The newspaper boom

The Times in London launched the puzzle on 12 November 2004, and other papers soon followed. By mid-2006, nearly every major newspaper in the United States was publishing a daily Sudoku. USA Today also runs a 6×6 version called Mini Sudoku.

Sudoku on television

The world's first live television Sudoku show, Sudoku Live, was first broadcast on 1 July 2005 on the British channel Sky One. Later in 2005 the BBC launched SUDO-Q, a game show that combined Sudoku with general knowledge questions.

Where Sudoku lives today

Sudoku appears in newspapers, puzzle books, apps and websites, and world championships bring competitors together to solve puzzles in timed rounds.
